My camera simply refused to stop overexposing the southern areas of the Moon, for whatever reason... Shame on me for buying a camera that tries to do everything automagically. 
EDIT: A little technical info: Single frame, 1 second exposure. ~40x magnification through Orion Classic 8 inch Dob.
